When Should You Call an Emergency Plumber?
A burst or uncontrollable pipe, sewage entering the building, loss of safe usable water, or water near electrical systems may justify an urgent call. A noisy water heater or pressure change is not necessarily an emergency unless accompanied by leakage, gas odor, or another hazard.
What Should You Do Before Plumbing Help Arrives?
Shut off the affected water supply if it can be reached safely, keep clear of wet electrical areas, and stop using backed-up drains. If gas is smelled, leave the area and follow the gas utility’s emergency instructions rather than operating the appliance or switches.
